چکیده
Background Biodiesel has emerged as a energy, environmental and social solution proposal. However, there are some technical challenges that need to be solved, for example, use of the by-product of biodiesel production, crude glycerol (CG). To avoid future problems caused by the accumulation of CG and simultaneously make biodiesel production more competitive, the search for the most viable alternatives to the use of this waste has been proposed. The CG can be the raw material for the synthesis of products with high added value, obtained through biochemical conversion (fermentation routes) [1-3]. The biomass of Trichoderma is considered an excellent biological control agent for pest and disease pathogens in plants and is promising alternative to conventional chemical control [4,5]. Thus, the aim of this study was to preliminarily evaluate the use of CG in biomass production of Trichoderma reesei QM9414 by submerged fermentation.

The micromorphology of Trichoderma reesei analyzed in cultivations on lactose and solid lignocellulosic substrate, and its relationship with cellulase production
BACKGROUND Trichoderma reesei is the principal producer of cellulolytic enzymes. Because of the strong influence on the enzyme production, the morphology of the filamentous fungi is a key parameter for process optimization. For cost-effective production of cellulolytic enzymes, the cultivation of T. reesei is performed on lignocellulosic waste streams. These insoluble substrates prevent the app...
متن کاملOverexpression of D-Xylose Reductase (xyl1) Gene and Antisense Inhibition of D-Xylulokinase (xyiH) Gene Increase Xylitol Production in Trichoderma reesei
T. reesei is an efficient cellulase producer and biomass degrader. To improve xylitol production in Trichoderma reesei strains by genetic engineering, two approaches were used in this study. First, the presumptive D-xylulokinase gene in T. reesei (xyiH), which has high homology to known fungi D-xylulokinase genes, was silenced by transformation of T. reesei QM9414 strain with an antisense const...
متن کاملCharacterization and Strain Improvement of a Hypercellulytic Variant, Trichoderma reesei SN1, by Genetic Engineering for Optimized Cellulase Production in Biomass Conversion Improvement
The filamentous fungus Trichoderma reesei is a widely used strain for cellulolytic enzyme production. A hypercellulolytic T. reesei variant SN1 was identified in this study and found to be different from the well-known cellulase producers QM9414 and RUT-C30. The cellulose-degrading enzymes of T. reesei SN1 show higher endoglucanase (EG) activity but lower β-glucosidase (BGL) activity than those...
متن کاملCellulase hyperproducing mutants derived from the fungus Trichoderma reesei QM9414 produced large amounts of cellulase at the enzymatic and transcriptional levels.
Cellulase hyperproducing mutants derived from the fungus Trichoderma reesei QM9414 were analyzed. They exhibited higher filter-paper degrading activity and a lower growth rate than the wild-type QM9414 strain. Transcription of the cellobiohydrolase I and endoglucanase I genes in the mutants was also greater than that of QM9414, suggesting that cellulase hyperproduction by these mutants was regu...
متن کاملIncreased Production and Activity of Cellulase Enzyme of Trichoderma reesei by Using Gibberellin Hormone
Cellulolytic complex are enzymes capable of hydrolyzing cellulose. Due to rapid growth in population and industrialization, most countries are required to produce more fuel. Production of bioethanol from lignocellulosic biomass is very challenging due to environmental pollution by fossil fuels. Cellulases play a significant role in biotechnological processes. The cost of production of cellulase...
